What Is APN?
APN stands for “Access Point Name” and it’s a configuration required to enable your phone successfully connect to the internet once there is Airtime or internet data on your SIM. It works for GSM, GPRS, 3G, 4G or 5G mobile network. This means that once configured, your phone can browse with any network type available in your location. So whether you want MTN APN Settings, Glo APN Settings, Airtel APN settings or 9Mobile APN settings, this post is for you, so read on. Each mobile network provider has its unique APN settings which is either sent automatically to your phone once SIM card is inserted or manually configured. In this post, I have provided you with codes and procedures to request for automatic or push APN configuration and manual setup for those willing to configure their phones manually by themselves. A decade ago, phone internet configuration was a herculean task for most phone users as we were just gradually getting used to using of mobile phones but today, it’s easier because we now have enough resources and can manipulate our phones easily without paying a dime to technicians. Now let’s get down to business.
MTN Nigeria Internet Browsing Configuration
MTN NG has a code which can be sent in an SMS to demand for the APN Settings into your phone automatically. This is to help customers who are not technically sound in maneuvering over the phone settings area. To request for automatic MTN APN configuration, send the word “SETTINGS” to 3888 in an SMS and the settings will be sent to your phone immediately which you should just tap on “SAVE” to activate it as your default APN. But if for one reason or the other, you didn’t receive the configuration automatically, then apply this manual settings below.

AIRTEL NG INTERNET CONFIGURATIONS
When it comes to internet browsing in Nigeria, Airtel ranks high as one of the best network for that purpose. No wonder it’s popularly known as the “smartphones network”. Just like in other networks, you will not be able to browse the Internet with your Airtel line even if you have airtime or subscribed to data bundle until you correctly configure your phone with Airtel APN settings. Having said that, Airtel offers a service that allows customers get ‘push configuration’ wired automatically inside your phone once you send the name of your phone to this short code 232. So to request for automatic APN Settings inside your phone on airtel network, send “internet phonebrand model” to 232. For example, “internet Tecno C9” to 232 in an SMS and you will receive the confirmation via SMS. Remember to replace “Tecno C9” with the name of your phone. However, in situations where you didn’t still get the configuration sent to your phone, then you will use the manual method below.

Note that Airtel Blackberry Plan still works on Android phones and many of us prefers it to the normal Android plans because it’s better in terms of data volumes and no issue of data zapping but unfortunately it won’t brows on your phone with the above APN Settings unless you changed the APN to internet.ng.zain.com.

GlO INTERNET CONFIGURATIONS
There are several methods to request for Glo APN settings or activate it in your phone. Normally, you can activate Glo APN by going to your device connectivity settings, if you can find one of the following Access Point Names: Glo NG (Glo flat) or Glo NG (Glo Secure) then you can browse, if none of them is available, it means you have to request for automatic configuration to your phone or set it up manually by yourself. You can receive Glo APN configuration immediately on your phone by sending your “PHONENAME” to 927 For example, Tecno C9 to 927. (just replace “tecno c9” with the name of your phone) But if you don’t know the brand and model of your phone, maybe you are using all those olden days unpopular China phones, then use below codes to get your internet configuration. By sending ACTIVATE to 444. Text the word “ACTIVATE” via SMS to 444 using your Glo SIM. Or Text ALL to 1234.

9MOBILE INTERNET CONFIGURATION
9Mobile is the rebranded name for Etisalat Nigeria so it’s no longer referred to as “Etisalat APN Settings” rather it’s now “9Mobile APN Settings“. If you want to browse with your 9Mobile SIM but it refused to go through even after activating data plan, the issue may be as a result of wrongly configured APN or total non availability of an APN Settings. So to request for an automatic configuration settings, just send an SMS “SETTING” to 790. In case you didn’t still receive the configuration settings, then apply this manual settings under » network » APN.
9Mobile APN Settings (Manual)

With these settings you will be able to enjoy internet browsing once you have an active data plan.

As you can see, all the network providers in Nigeria has provisions for sending automated APN configurations to your mobile phone once it detects their SIM card on it.
